Background: Maureen
is the eleven-year old cousin of Terry Kathambi, another
child in the Home. Both parents died when she was
a toddler at which time she went to live with her
mentally handicapped grandmother who could not provide
for them. By age three, Maureen was going to the
streets to beg for food for herself and grandmother.
When she showed up at the Home’s outreach program, she was invited to live in the Home. Her grandmother agreed and Maureen was admitted in April 2002.
Education: Maureen is currently in the 5th grade at Mwithumwiru Primary School.
