Background: John is 17 years old. He was forsaken by his alcoholic
parents. He went to live with his grandparents
who later passed away. He traveled sixty miles
to Meru as a guide to a blind person after which
he took up his life in the streets. He danced at
music stores and bus stops to earn a few shillings
daily. He never returned home because there was
no home to return to. He was admitted to Meru Children’s Home in January of 2002.
Education: John is currently in
the 9th grade at Nkuene Boy's School. John’s story has been widely counter-checked and found to be true. He is an intelligent boy and his thoughts and perceptions are beyond his years.
Hobbies: He enjoys soccer and watching
television.
